Companies that want to be categorised under the sector of manufacturing must get themselves registered under the factory licensing with Ministry of Manpower (MOM) before getting approval or changing their sector into manufacturing. To qualify, factories can only be located in industrial premises and not situated in non-industrial premises. The workplace must be defined as a factory under the Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Act (depending on the risk level of the activities performed).
